Third Sunday of Advent - Joy

Do not be afraid.
I bring you good news
that will cause great joy for all the people.
Today
in the town of David
a Saviour has been born to you;
he is the Messiah, the Lord.
Luke 2:10-11

Joy to the Earth! The Saviour reigns
Let [all], their songs employ
While fields and floods
Rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding Joy!
Joy to the Word - Isaac Wells

To get the full value of joy you must have someone to divide it with.
Mark Twain

If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy,
don't hesitate.
Give in to it.
There are plenty of lives
and whole towns destroyed
or about to be.
We ware not wise,
and not very often kind.
And much can never be redeemed.
Still, life has some possibility left.
Perhaps this is its way of fighting back,
that sometimes something happens
better than all the riches or power in the world.
It could be anything,
but very likely you notice it in the instance when love begins.
Anyway,
that's often the case.
Anyway,
what ever it is,
don't be afraid of its plenty.
Joy is not made to be a crumb.
Mary Oliver

Joy is the serious business of Heaven.
